Integral to the design of the homes are the energy and water saving features that will help future occupiers to reduce their utility bills and take a greener approach to living.
The homes are heated with ground source heat pumps. The heat pumps use heat stored underground to supply heating and hot water. These heat pumps are effective all year round, even during the colder winter months. The heat is transferred to under floor heating on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor.
Unlike gas and oil boilers, heat pumps deliver heat at lower temperatures over much longer periods. The heat pumps reduce energy usage in the home and residents can expect lower fuel bills.
The scheme completed in April 2014. All eight properties have been sold as shared ownership homes.
