Energy and environment
We want to help our residents save money on their bills, manage energy costs, improve their health, and reduce environmental impact.
We’re striving to reduce our environmental impact to help manage our costs and to be a more responsible business.
Our Energy and Environmental Strategy 2015-2020 sets out how we’re planning to make a difference.
The benefits of our strategy will include:
• Affordable energy and warmer homes for our residents
• Reducing CO2 emissions
• Reducing landfill waste and pollution
• Improving food growing, biodiversity and resident health.
We achieved SHIFT (Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow) Gold accreditation in November 2016.
SHIFT is a national scheme which measures the environmental impact of housing associations.
We achieved silver in 2014 and have made big improvements to our SHIFT performance since we joined in 2011.
The IFORE (Innovation for Renewal) project improved the carbon efficiency of 100 homes in Rushenden, Kent. View our IFORE project here to find out more about what we learnt.
CAN and SHINE projects
We’ve been awarded European Union funding for two projects – Climate Active Neighbourhoods (CAN) and Sustainable Houses in Inclusive Neighbourhoods (SHINE).
